How we check slot RTP settings
All of the data was obtained manually, directly from each casino operator and not from third-party websites.
The actual game is loaded on each casino's website and not a demo version of the slot machine.
Each casino must display the RTP percentage for the slot game in the help panel for that game. This percentage is recorded directly from the slot game help panel on each casino operator's website.
Each of the RTP percentages noted for the slots at each casino are compared to each other to determine the gap between the best and worst casino for each slot machine.
Casinos do change the RTP percentages for the slot games they offer. These pages are updated whenever we detect that a casino has changed the RTP for a game.
Do casinos really change slot machine RTP percentages?
Yes, they do. Most slot machine software providers offer the slot machines to individual casinos with a variety of RTP percentages for each game. Each casino can legally select the RTP percentage they would like to use for each slot game. As long as that percentage is displayed for the players in the help panel of each of the slot machines that are hosted on their website, they are in compliance with their gambling license.
Most players do not check the RTP percentages for the slot games that they play. They typically assume that the RTP percentage that is displayed on a game review website is the percentage that they will receive from every single casino that features that slot game. This is not true. Most game review websites publish the default and maximum RTP percentages for the slot game manufacturers. The actual percentage for the slot game at the casinos may be lower.
Which slot machine software provider has the biggest gaps in their slot games RTP percentages?
Hacksaw Gaming has some of the most varied slot games in terms of both no gaps in RTP percentages as well as the largest gaps between the best and worst casino RTP percentages for those slot games. For instance, Le Bandit and Le Zeus have some of the largest gaps between the best and worst casino RTP percentages at 4.17% and 3.89% respectively. Coin Flynn also has a significant gap of 3.00%. Pragmatic Play slot games also have relatively large gaps between the best and worst casino RTP percentages ranging from 2% to 2.7%. Finally, all of the slot games produced by ELK Studios have no gaps between the best and worst casino RTP percentages for their games although we only track one of their games.
How much does a 2% gap in RTP percentages cost a casino player?
For every £100 that a player wagers on a slot game at a casino with a 2% gap in RTP percentages, the player will receive £2 more from the casino at the best slot casino for that game versus the worst. For a player who wagers £500 on a session of slot play, they would receive £10 more from the best casino for that game versus the worst. For a regular player that wagers £5,000 per month on slot games, they could receive £100 more per month from the best casino for those games versus the worst casino for those same games - all from the RTP settings of the slot games alone.
